1996
- 2011
(and still counting)
Plenty of music has been created and recorded in the last 15 years -
both on tape and on computer - and a few songs have been uploaded
to the
CöS Myspace Site but in the near future some serious recording will result in the first CöS
Album to be put on CD. Meanwhile,
"Music
For Fish"
(1999)
is an unfinished project, but the pic & the
one song written
& recorded for this "concept " are still worth
working on - maybe it will be resurrected
sometime....

Before the idea of CöS came about there was:
Paracetamol Zombie
(1994 -1996)
This was a project that involved myself as King Cholera - and Justin
( Chihuahua
Zycantah
/ Horrordactyl ) in the persona
of Docktor Morbius. We
recorded the stuff that appeared on "Music From The
Mist...." (Cover below), in
the Autumn of 1994 at the farm where I lived at the time, and we did
quite a few gigs the next year
in the Surbiton/Kingston area, with several appearances at The
Magical Animal Dream Factory
- which is now "Brave New World" - where Thee
Intolerable Kidd
& Filthy Pedro
have performed.................................anyway, this
was
our one and only product, the cassette ep:
"Music
From The Mist"
(1995)

This was all recorded using my Tascam Porta-One 4-Track -
which I'd had for
8 years & the master-tape still sounds ok
Before that, from South-West London, there was:
Dirty EarBash
(1989)
This was my friend Mark's Band
He played drums, Trevor on Guitar
Dave was the vocalist and I the Bass-Player
(Lawrence was the original Bass-Man)
we played several gigs in the locality
I've been
searching high & low
for the posters that Mark
did to promote our gigs
when I find them
they'll be up
here
Before that I
played bass with:
Blood Blood Pops
(1987/88)
In this Woking-based
band the guitarist was the late Kev Love
- R.I.P -
Simon G (ex Screaming Lullabies) did the Al
Jourgenson/Gibby Haynes impersonations
and there were several drummers and drum-machines
We played mainly
Butthole Surfers/Chrome
influenced stuff
and did a couple of gigs
This pic was actually taken in 1996, featuring
Kevin Love & Ian Everett both formerly in Phoney American
Accents, and
at that time, in Mission Control . Ian is currently in
Conspiracy Of Silence
(I'm the background):

Before that there
was:
Morbia
(1987)
- "More Beer!" - geddit - lol -
Another Woking-based band comprising:
Rob on Guitar/Vocals; Laura on Vocals; Paul on Guitar;
Nigel on Drums and myself on Bass.
I only played a few gigs with them which was ok....sort of Pop-Goth though we did do quite good versions of
"Louie Louie" & "Wild Thing" which
we did backtoback as the last song of our set
Before Morbia, Paul and I - with the same instruments -
jammed with another
guitarist, Matt (currently: Photographing
Girls), we didn't get round to
doing any gigs
Before that there was:
The
Freedom Children
(1983 - 1985)
This band, originally called "The Railway Children", was based predominantly in Guildford and Woking, with
Simon N on vocals, Chris on Bass, Charlie on Rhythm Guitar & Phil R on Drums.....then they found out there was already
a band doing the rounds with the same name so changed it and roundabout the same time Chris left the band and I joined. Simon
took over some of the Bass duties (while still doing the vocals) I played mainly
Rhythm Guitar, occasional Bass and some Keyboards
We played mainly alternative stuff, and borrowed heavily on
people like The Fall, A Certain Ratio and Rip Rig & Panic
We didn't get round to doing any gigs before going our
separate ways (though they did a few before I joined)
There's a tape of us somewhere
and in the beginning there was..........
Ghert
Mint
(1980 - 1993)
The
"Scarlett
EP"
(1990)
.........was the
second-last recorded output using the name Ghert Mint
and was the first recording produced with my Tascam
4-Track

On this album is the original version of "Rainbow Print
Dress" (here "Scarlett Princess")
The quality of the
only tape I have is not too good and sounds worse
after digitising
but maybe sometime when I have better software and/or equipment....
or maybe I might put something up from here rough as it is....
"Having
A Wail Of A Time"
(1985)

Track listing:-

Having A Wail Of A Time

[All

which were by
Hippo]
This would've been
the second Ghert Mint album - the Drum-Machine at the the time was a BOSS Dr Rhythm & it was all
recorded using
2 ghetto-blasters in my Mum's Kitchen (20+ years
ago, that is)....the quality of the only tape I have is not too good in places
but
a song or two could be lifted from it, rough as they are, to be uploaded onto the Weird-Wide-Web...
Ghert Mint actually started life at school with myself on
guitar, Al on Bass, Roger on Drums and Dom was the vocalist

Myself, Al, & Dom; Ghert Mint, Summer 1980
We didn't do any gigs with the original line-up - we all going our separarte ways after school.
Al & I continued on for a while though, with various
drummers & we shared vocals & we did a couple of stints at
parties
but I didn't particularly like singing live - still don't - somewhere I still have a few tapes from that period.
After that,
Al went to Uni - though recently he got his Bass out again and played in a band called Piramuz doing 80s Covers
then recently joined SE6 Machine, who he currently performs with.
STOP PRESS!
We had a little reunion recently - but unfortuately some of us forgot to bring our talents:

Myself, Roger, Al & Dom - The ORIGINAL Ghert Mint - 2011
Ghert Mint was the name I continued to use for recording purposes whilst working with other bands - some featured here
(amongst a fair few others) - and a few albums-worth of material was recorded -
a couple of them are featured above..................
In the mid-90s, it was decided a new direction needed a new name - and that was:
